Upcoming Google Pixel Fold fully leaked

Google is expected to present its first folding smartphone in May at the start of its I/O developer conference. The Pixel Fold will no longer be a big surprise, as almost everything about the device is already known through several leaks. It’s still an exciting novelty.

Google doesn’t have too much of a problem with leaks, or rather reveals the design and other details of upcoming devices. Perhaps the flood of information about the Pixel Fold, which will probably be officially presented on May 10th at the I/O developer conference, is not unwelcome at all. There is no predecessor who could suffer from it. And some public attention before the start of sales certainly doesn’t hurt either – especially if you get into the moth race a little late.

“Front Page Tech” is particularly well informed. After the tech magazine published the first computer images of the Pixel Fold in the fall published the dates for the premiere and the start of sales followed in mid-April. Over the weekend, author Jon Prosser followed up with a YouTube video that reveals practically all the technical details.

Two 120Hz displays

The device’s OLED main screen is said to be 7.6 inches when unfolded, have a pixel density of 380 ppi and offer a refresh rate of up to 120 Hertz (Hz). Aspect ratio: 6:5. According to Prosser, the OLED external display in 17.4:9 format is 5.8 inches in size and can also handle 120 Hz. With 408 ppi, it should be a bit sharper than the main screen. The Pixel Fold weighs 283 grams and measures 14 x 7.9 x 1.27 cm when folded. As with other folding smartphones, the fingerprint sensor is likely to be located in the on/off switch.

According to the leaks, the Pixel Fold, like the Pixel 7 duo, is powered by Google’s in-house chip Tensor G2, and the main memory is said to be 12 gigabytes (GB). The flash memory should optionally be 256 or 512 GB in size. One of the Pixel Fold’s few unsolved mysteries is battery capacity.

Telecamera with fivefold optical magnification

Prosser’s video leaves no questions unanswered when it comes to the camera hardware. The main camera has a resolution of 48 megapixels (MP), is optically stabilized and should have an aperture of f/1.7. There is also an ultra wide-angle camera with 10.8 MP and aperture f/2.2 and a telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom with aperture f/3.0.

There are also two front cameras. According to Prosser, the snap on the outside shoots images with 9.6 MP and has an aperture of f/2.2. The inner selfie camera is said to offer 8 MP and f/2.0. In both cases the focus is fixed.

The Pixel Fold should be able to record videos in 4K resolution with up to 30 frames per second (fps), only 60 fps should be possible with Full HD.

Pretty expensive

Most recently, Kuba Wojciechowski leaked a short video on Twitter that is supposed to show how the Google Pixel Fold is opened and closed. The edge of the display is striking, which, among other things, compared to the Samsung Galaxy Fold 4 is very wide. If the previously leaked computer graphics are correct, this is not a prototype but a device with a final design.

Finally, Prosser also mentions the US prices of the Google Pixel Fold in his video. The variant with 256 GB of memory will cost around $1800, the 512 GB model just under $1920. According to Prosser, after the presentation on May 10th, the Pixel Fold can only be pre-ordered, and it will only be delivered from June 27th. Pre-order can with a Pixel Watch count as a free bonus.
