Netflix will finally let you clear up your Continue Watching list

If for some reason you didn’t already know, there’s loads to watch on Netflix. No, we’re serious. Having extensive choice is great, for the most part. It means that no matter how niche your tastes, you’re bound to find something to watch that you’ll enjoy. Getting to that point can be a little tedious.

You know how it goes. Your friend’s cousin tells you about this great show that ‘you simply have to watch’. So you acquiesce and say you’ll put it on your list. Then later, when you’re browsing for something to watch while your food gets cold, you rediscover the show and decide to give it a try.

A few minutes into the first episode, you remember why you don’t take viewing advice from that friend’s cousin and just rewatch an episode of The Office.

But Netflix’s algorithm thinks it’s hooked you, so the show sits in your ‘Continue Watching’ row. Eagerly waiting for you to return. But you never will. But you see it every time you scroll around looking for The Office. Taunting you.

Netflix takes one step closer to being customisable

Well, that was all in the before times. Netflix has finally added the option for you to remove shows from ‘Continue Watching’. It should be available to you right away, on any platform, although we had some issues with the Windows desktop app. The issue was that the feature wasn’t there. Netflix takes one step closer to being customizable.

In your browser or in the mobile app you’ll find the button next to the Play, Add to list, and rating buttons. Clicking the option will prompt a popup that’ll ask why you’re removing the content so that the algo can learn a little more about you. You’ll also be able to undo the removal shortly after if you suddenly have a change of heart. You won’t. But Netflix remains ever hopeful.
