If you hate the notch design on the iPhone, know that based on previous reports it has been suggested that the notch will not be going away anytime soon. However, it could be potentially less obnoxious and less in-your-face, according to a new report from DigiTimes who claims that the upcoming iPhone 13 could sport a smaller notch design.

Apparently this is due to Apple introducing a redesigned Face ID system that will apparently require less space, and as such, could result in the notch on the phone being made smaller. The report claims that this is made possible as the various sensors used will be combined into the same camera module, making it similar to the LiDAR scanner’s design on the rear-facing camera, thus helping reduce the size of the notch in the process.

We’re not sure how much smaller the notch will be, but hopefully it will be obvious enough to make a difference. This is actually not the first time that we’ve heard of the rumors of a smaller notch on the iPhone 13, so while it doesn’t necessarily make the rumors true, it does corroborate previous reports and at the very least it is consistent.

There have also been rumors claiming that Apple could finally bring back Touch ID to the iPhone in the form of an in-display sensor. We’ve been hearing rumors about this for a while and hopefully this is the year we’ll finally get to see it.
