The Foo Fighters are going on tour again and are also coming to Germany. Josh Freese will be on drums after Taylor Hawkins passed away over a year ago. The 50-year-old drummer has played with a number of well-known artists.
The US rock band Foo Fighters has now named a successor after the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins in March 2022. American drummer Josh Freese is to take Hawkins’ place on drums, the band around frontman David Grohl announced at a live stream event on Sunday. The 50-year-old Freese previously played with artists and bands such as The Vandals, Devo, Danny Elfman, Nine Inch Nails, Sting and Offspring, among others.
The band has announced a new album, “But Here We Are”, for June 2nd. It is the first since the death of Hawkins, who was found dead in a hotel room in Colombia’s capital, Bogotá, while on tour in March last year.
The Foo Fighters are going on tour next week. At the beginning of June they are expected to be one of the headliners at “Rock im Park” in Nuremberg and at the twin festival “Rock am Ring” at the Nürburgring in the Eifel. At two memorial concerts last September, Hawkins’ place was taken by a variety of musicians, including Freese, Travis Barker of Blink-182, Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Hawkins’ Sohn Shane.
