Amazon has begun rolling out a new and pretty big update to their Fire TV software, bringing a redesigned interface and loads of new features such as Find destination, user Profiles along with new voice commands for the Alexa voice-assistant. The update will be rolling out to Fire TV Stick (3rd gen) and Fire TV Stick Lite.

The Main Menu screen has been redesigned, with the most frequently used places like the Home, Find, Live, Library, Profiles being very easy to navigate to. Clicking up will show popular content and clicking down will show an expanded row of shows and movies. Users can also scroll over an app to get a sneak peek of what’s inside and begin playback if they wish to do so.

In the Home menu, users can find show and movie recommendations from subscription-based streaming services like Prime Video, Zee5, SonyLiv and Voot plus. The new “Find” screen is designed to be a one-stop place to find content across streaming services with the ability to filter by content like Movies or TV shows, or search recommended categories like Comedy, Action or Adventure, etc.

Another useful feature that has been added is User Profiles, which is great when there are multiple users under one household. Fire TV will allow up to 6 users and each will have access to their own viewing history, recommendations, watch list, live TV preferences, and personal settings.

And lastly, Amazon added a lot more capabilities to the Alexa voice assistant. It now supports commands such as “Alexa, switch to my profile”, “Alexa, learn my voice”, “Alexa, go to Live”, “Alexa, go to Find”, “Alexa, show me action movies”, etc.

As we mentioned earlier, the update will be rolling out to customers of the Fire TV Stick (3rd gen) and Fire TV Stick Lite over the next few weeks.
