Apple’s iPhone 12 has yet to be released or announced even, but we already know how well it could perform. This is thanks to Apple introducing the A14 chipset in the iPad Air which is also expected to find its way into the company’s iPhone 12 lineup. Assuming the benchmarks are accurate, here’s what we can expect.

According to the benchmarks, the A14 Bionic chipset scored 1,583 in terms of single-core performance, and 4,198 in terms of multi-core performance. So what does this mean? This means that if you’re upgrading from the iPhone 11 series, you can expect to see about an 18% jump in performance.

It’s not that big of a jump, but if you’re coming from an older iPhone, then the gains will be more noticeable. Take for instance the iPhone XR/XS where users can expect a 44% increase in performance, or 75% if you’re upgrading from the iPhone X. If you’re coming from an even older iPhone, like iPhone 6s, then the performance improvement will be about 196%, which is more than double.

Of course, it’s hard to say if these scores will be the same on the iPhone 12 as Apple could potentially make some tweaks, but if you’re coming from an older iPhone, then these gains could make the iPhone 12 worth upgrading to. Apple is currently scheduled to announce their new iPhones on the 13th of October, so check back with us then for the updates.
