When the iPhone 12 was first announced, one thing that was conspicuously missing from Apple’s announcement was battery life. The company typically makes some kind of comment or statement regarding battery life and the improvements its made over the previous generation, but for the iPhone 12, Apple kept mum.

It turns out it is because there’s really nothing to talk about. In fact, saying anything could actually make it worse for Apple. This is because according to a recent sighting at TENAA, China’s version of the FCC, a filing with the agency has revealed the battery size of the iPhone 12 Pro Max to be 3,687mAh.

This is very, very disappointing especially when you consider the gains that Apple made with the iPhone 11 Pro Max, which comes with a 3,969mAh battery. Given that the iPhone’s battery life is something that many make fun of, a difference of 300mAh is actually a pretty big deal and could see the iPhone 12 Pro Max last shorter than the iPhone 11 Pro Max, especially given its larger display and new hardware features.

We’re not sure why Apple used a smaller battery, but perhaps it could be due to the new design that some are saying is actually thinner than its predecessor. Either way, it’s something to think about if you’re planning on picking up the phone.
